Description
Fabien Barrero-Carsenat’s Mastaba incense burner is made of bronze. The mastaba is an Egyptian funerary monument that predates the invention of the pyramid. In keeping with his interest in antiquity, Fabien Barrero-Carsenat explores the architectural motif and the theme of the votive object. He has created a spiritual object, like a small reliquary, for the ancient practice of fumigation. Here, the mastaba is a small object of devotion and admiration, whose simple contemplation is intended to inspire serenity and introspection.
Fabien Barrero-Carsenat’s sculptures are true witnesses to the passage of time, as the bronze develops a delicate patina with use and the passing of the years.
