CONTEMPORARY EDITION OF THE ETOILE MIRROR
The Etoile Mirror is an emblematic work by Maxime Old. Designed in 1942 to fit into a Paris apartment entirely decorated by Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, to whom he was pupil, the Etoile Mirror is one of the first pieces that allowed Maxime Old to emancipate himself from the lessons of his master. The star shape is highly characteristic of Maxime Old’s compositions and his sense of balance. Largely borrowing from Art Deco influences, this mirror incorporates modern elements, anticipating post-war movements favoring clean lines and rational construction.
