Born in Brittany and based in Paris, Raphaël Pontais is a qualified multidisciplinary designer specializing in furniture and interior objects.
In 2021, he collaborated with decorator and interior architect Oscar Lucien Ono, designing furniture for hotels and private residences in Europe and across the Atlantic. Combining his approach to design with that of the ensemblier in the heart of Saint-Germain-Des-Prés, he remains true to his resolutely contemporary universe when working on personal projects.
With his first creation, Rooly, Raphaël Pontais unveils a dreamlike universe of minimalist intent, exploring a sculptural assemblage where metal, his material of choice, meets the softness of curves and fabric.
Revealed at the last edition of Paris Design Week at Espace Commines under the curation of Emily Marant, Raphaël Pontais then exhibited in Eindhoven for Dutch Design Week with Isola Design, then recently at Maison & Objet with the support of Paris Design Week Factory.
Founded in 2010 by Anne Jacquemin Sablon, the gallery specializes in contemporary furniture and decorative arts and favors noble materials, strong lines and French manufacturing by excellent craftsmen. In 2014, the gallery moved into a former fashion boutique from the 1920s, located between the Palais-Royal and the Louvre.
