Jean François Reboul

After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Avignon, Jean-François Reboul apprenticed under potter Robert Auguste, who left a profound mark on him. His encounter with ceramics quickly allowed him to create freely and to reveal the infinite possibilities of this medium. To further develop his talent, he traveled across various regions of France to discover the techniques unique to each area and to learn more about producing his future works.

In 1982, he founded the Ateliers de Mazille with artist Patricia Dhellemmes in Mazille, Saône-et-Loire. The following year, he participated in the 11th International Biennale of Ceramic Art in Vallauris, where he was awarded the Chambre Syndicale des Céramistes Prize. In 1991, Jean-François worked for the Faïencerie de Charolles and, alongside Kira and Jacques Molin, the owners of the faience factory, created his company ARTECA. Through this collaboration, the young ceramicist had the opportunity to work with and for the designers RAVAGE, creating numerous ceramic pieces with his team.

In 1998, Jean-François Reboul established his own company, ARGANE, in Cluny, enabling him to continue the work he had begun in Charolles with major perfumers such as Guerlain, Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, and L’Artisan Parfumeur. Through this endeavor, he crafted ceramic supports for perfumes, replacing traditional glass sample tubes.

Since then, the artist has been working in his Mazille studios, pursuing his work in concrete sculpture as well as exploring raku firing, which he sees as a window into the world of material and, by extension, into our world.
